Ayan Mallik is a Ph.D. student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Maryland, College Park. He received his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees (under 5 years Dual Degree Program) in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India in 2014. His Ph.D. dissertation topic is on “Design, control and optimization of Boeing Regulated Transformer Rectifier Unit for More Electric Airplanes”.
Besides, his research focuses on high step-down, high power density DC/DC converter solutions for data center applications, the design of integrated bidirectional onboard chargers for electric vehicles. He is the recipient of the Graduate School’s Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award (top 2% of campus Graduate Assistants) for 2016, Kulkarni Graduate Student Summer Research Fellowship (4 students per year) for Summer 2017 and also, is the 2017 winner of ISR’s George Harhalakis Outstanding Systems Engineering Graduate Student Award (one graduate student per year) in the University of Maryland.
He is a big fan of soccer and loves playing foosball.
