Arafat Hasnain is a 3rd year PhD student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical engineering from Villanova University, USA, in 2017 and 2019, respectively. His current research interests include the design and modeling of high-efficiency, compact wide-bandgap-based converters, and high-frequency magnetics for applications in transportation electrification and renewable energy. Arafat is also particularly interested in single-stage topology solutions for DC-AC and AC-DC converters with wide-bandgap device integration.
Apart from his research interests, Arafat has also served as the president of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA). In his spare time, Arafat enjoys reading books and watching sports, particularly soccer and basketball.
